چکیده
Let $f \in L^{2}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ and suppose we are interested in computing its average at a fixed scale. This is easy: pick the density $u_{}$ of probability distribution with mean 0 some moment desired scale compute convolution $u_{} * f$. Is there particularly natural choice for $u$? question studied space theory Gaussian popular answer. We were whether canonical $u$ can arise from new axiom: having scale, should oscillate as little possible, i.e. $$ u_{} = \arg\min_{u_{}} \sup_{f L^2(\mathbb{R}^n)} \frac{\| \nabla (u_{} *f) \|_{L^2(\mathbb{R}^n)}}{\|f\|_{L^2(\mathbb{R}^n)}}.$$ optimal function turns out to be minimizer an uncertainty principle: $\alpha > 0$ $\beta n/2$, exists $c_{\alpha, \beta,n} such that all $u L^1(\mathbb{R}^n)$ \| |\xi|^{\beta} \cdot \widehat{u}\|^{\alpha}_{L^{\infty}(\mathbb{R}^n)} |x|^{\alpha} u \|^{\beta}_{L^1(\mathbb{R}^n)} \geq c_{\alpha, \|u\|_{L^1(\mathbb{R}^n)}^{\alpha + \beta}.$$ For 1$, any nonnegative extremizer inequality serves best averaging sense above, \neq 1$ corresponds other derivatives. $(n, \beta)=(1,1)$ use Shannon-Whittaker formula prove characteristic $u(x) \chi_{[-1/2,1/2]}$ local among functions defined on $[-1/2,1/2]$ \left\{2,3,4,5,6\right\}$. provide sufficient condition general $\alpha$ terms sign pattern hypergeometric $_1F_2$.

Scale-Space Generation via Uncertainty Principles
This study is concerned with the uncertainty principles which are related to the Weyl-Heisenberg, the SIM(2) and the Affine groups. A general theorem which associates an uncertainty principle to a pair of self-adjoint operators was previously used in finding the minimizers of the uncertainty principles related to various groups, e.g., the one and twodimensional Weyl-Heisenberg groups, the one-d...
متن کاملUncertainty Principles for the Fock Space
We prove several versions of the uncertainty principle for the Fock space F 2 in the complex plane. In particular, for any unit vector f in F , we show that dist (f ′ + zf, [f ]) dist (f ′ − zf, [f ]) ≥ 1, where [f ] = Cf is the one-dimensional subspace spanned by f . We also determine exactly when equality occurs above.
متن کاملHermite Functions and Uncertainty Principles for the Fourier and the Windowed Fourier Transforms
We extend an uncertainty principle due to Beurling into a characterization of Hermite functions. More precisely, all functions f on R which may be written as P (x) exp(Ax, x), with A a real symmetric definite positive matrix, are characterized by integrability conditions on the product f(x)f̂(y). We also give the best constant in uncertainty principles of Gelf’and Shilov type. We then obtain sim...
متن کاملLiouville Principles and a Large-Scale Regularity Theory for Random Elliptic Operators on the Half-Space
We consider the large-scale regularity of solutions to second-order linear elliptic equations with random coefficient fields. In contrast to previous works on regularity theory for random elliptic operators, our interest is in the regularity at the boundary: We consider problems posed on the halfspace with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions and derive an associated C1,α-type large-scale ...
